They’re about educating and providing consumers alternatives to synthetic perfumes, which can be unhealthy for the environment and ourselves.Pour le Monde was created by Wendi Berger, a self-confessed perfume junkie and former fashion and beauty magazine executive. During her pregnancy, she was advised by her doctor to eliminate her beloved perfumes due to the chemicals in them and the unknown effects they may have on her unborn child. She was shocked to discover the health risks tied to the conventional perfumes that she loved. Studies show that petrochemicals in fragrances—particularly synthetic musk—are endocrine disruptors. Traces of fragrance ingredients have been found in breast tissue, breast milk, and aquatic life.Yet, when Wendi attempted to hunt down a natural scent that suited her, she came up empty. None of the available fragrances rivaled her favorites, nor did they offer a truly natural option. Surprisingly, they still contained a small percentage of synthetic ingredients that could prove harmful. Eyeing a hole in the marketplace, she embarked on a long journey to create the Pour le Monde collection, the only certified 100% natural fine fragrances on the market.
